Frédéric Monino

Frédéric Monino (* 1965 in Sarcelles ) is a French jazz bassist.

Monino, musical autodidact , began playing the electric bass at the age of fifteen and performed with the Siegfried Kessler Trio and the Tony Pagano Trio and musicians such as Gérard Pansanel , Philippe Petrucciani and Michel Marre from 1988 .

In 1991 Laurent Cugny brought him to the Lumière Big Band in Paris. Here he took with Antoine Illouz Quintet and was part of the Flamenco ensemble actress Clémentine Célarié . In 1994 he became a member of the Orchester National de Jazz under Laurent Cugny. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, he played under its former directors François Jeanneau , Claude Barthélemy , Denis Badault and Antoine Hervé .

As a sideman Monino u. a. with Stefano Di Battista , Emmanuel Bex , Maria Schneider , François Jeanneau , Bobby Rangell , Jorge Pardo , Enrico Rava , Lucky Peterson , Sylvain Luc , Louis Winsberg , Philip Catherine , Claude Barthélemy , Jean-Marc Padovani , Juliette Gréco , Marcia Maria , Mônica Passos , Esperanza Fernandez , Houria Aichi , André Minvielle , Baly Othmani , Clifford Jarvis , Louis Moutin and Kevan Chemirani .

Monino's first album as a band leader, First Meeting , was awarded four stars by Jazzman Magazine . The composer Betsy Jolas wrote the solo piece "E semper la notte va" for him. With his band Around Jaco he interpreted the music of Jaco Pastorius .

From 2000 to 2001 Monino taught at the Municipal Conservatory of Narbonne , then until 2005 at the University of Montpellier .
