André Minvielle (born December 26, 1957 in Pau ) is a French jazz musician ( vocals , percussion ).

Live and act

Minvielle studied lyrical singing and percussion at the conservatory in his native city for four years and played in various groups and dance orchestras before he discovered jazz through an album by Al Jarreau . He founded the bands Bananas Group and DD Quartet . In 1985 he met Bernard Lubat , with whose company he performed at the festival in Uzeste . In 1989 he founded the Chorale des Sans-culottes in Bordeaux to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the revolution . Then he directed the vocal quintet Polyritmic Choral Rag . In the early 1990s he experimented with a mixture of rap and scat singing at Compagnie Lubat ( Scat Rap Jazzcogne , 1994). In 1997 his first solo album Canto! which received good reviews.

He worked in a duo with Marc Perrone and Didier Petit , with whom he also recorded albums. He also took part with Gérard Pansanel , with Guillaume de Chassy and Daniel Yvinec ( Chansons sous les bombes , 2004), with René Lacaille, with Marcel Loeffler and with Jean-Marie Machado ( La fête à Boby , a tribute to Boby Lapointe , 2012) on. Since 2004 he has worked regularly with accordionist Lionel Suarez in a duo, with whom he released the album Tandem in 2011 . Since 2018 he has been performing an homage to the poet Jacques Prévert with the band Papanosh .

In 2008 he was named “Vocal Artist of the Year” with the Victoires du jazz .
