Marcel Loeffler (* 1956 in Haguenau ) is a French accordionist of gypsy jazz .

Live and act

Loeffler, who comes from a Manouche family, was introduced to their musical tradition by his guitar-playing father; he specialized in the accordion. At the age of eight he accompanied his father and brother on stage with the accordion. He was guided by models such as Gus Viseur and Art Van Damme , which he initially tried to imitate. From 1983 he was a member of the Sweet Chorus group around the guitarists Mandino and Sony Reinhardt, Pierre Zeidler on clarinet and Ghislain Muller on vibraphone, with whom he performed until 1999 and made several records. In 1996 he presented his first album under his own name, on which he can be heard in different constellations from duo to quartet. He worked with Biréli Lagrène , Engé Henstetter, Claudius Dupont, Jean-Marc Robin, Wawau Adler , Corinne Chatel and Nicole Metzger and performed at festivals in Europe and the USA. In 2007 he was awarded the Grand Prix Gus Viseur .
