Lucky Peterson
Lucky Peterson (born December 13, 1964 as Judge Kenneth Peterson in Buffalo , New York , † May 17, 2020 in Dallas , Texas ) was an American blues musician.
Live and act
Peterson performed early at his father's club, The Governor's Inn . Willie Dixon , the blues legend from Chicago , took six-year-old Lucky Peterson under his wing and produced his first single. It was a cover version of the James Brown hit 1-2-3-4. The play became a great success on the radio and gave little Lucky Peterson numerous television appearances.
Peterson began playing the French horn while studying at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts ; later he appeared as a guitarist and keyboardist with Etta James , among others ; at Little Milton he acted as a band leader. As a solo artist he was not very successful until 1993.
In 1993, Peterson made his breakthrough with his album I'm Ready . Other publications followed, on which he presented the blues in ever new variations; he fused the blues not only with gospel, but also with contemporary funk as well as rock music and soul ; For example, he brought out a blues version of Prince's hit Purple Rain on his Move album .
Peterson has not only recorded a number of his own CDs , but has also played on over 300 albums as a musician; he had virtuoso skills on both the Hammond B3 organ and the guitar.
It wasn't until 2019 that Peterson started playing again after health problems; on his fiftieth stage anniversary he released the album 50 - Just Warming Up! He died on May 17, 2020 after a short illness at the age of 55 in a hospital in Dallas from a cerebral haemorrhage.
