Antoine Hervé (born January 20, 1959 in Paris ) is a French composer and pianist .

Live and act

Hervé studied piano with Pierre Sancan , orchestration with Marius Constant and composition with Jean-Yves Daniel-Lesur , Henri Challan , Jean-Claude Reynaud and Claude Ballif at the Conservatoire of Paris . He was a laureate of the national Concours de La Défense . For Radio France he founded the Bob 13 orchestra (recordings live in Paris , Tutti ). From 1987 to 1989 he was musical director of the Orchester National de Jazz . On worldwide tours with the orchestra, he has given more than one hundred and forty concerts, including with Gil Evans and Quincy Jones . With the orchestra he recorded the CDs ONJ 87 and African Dream . In 1990 he founded the Ensemble Hexameron , which was dedicated to promoting contemporary forms of musical improvisation , and the Antoine Hervé Quintet , with which he accompanied the Bulgarian-Turkish singer Yildiz Ibrahimova (album Paris-Zagreb ).

Hervé played a. a. with Dee Dee Bridgewater , Chet Baker , Randy Brecker , Cab Calloway , Louis Sclavis , Martial Solal , Michel Portal , Carla Bley , Didier Lockwood and Daniel Humair .

In addition to musicals , film scores and music for dance shows, he composed, among other things, a trumpet concerto, a string quartet and a piece for percussion and orchestra in the 1990s. In 1997 he founded the Stockhausen-Hervé-Quintet with Markus Stockhausen .

He is the founder of his own jazz label Philo .

In 1985 he received the Prix ​​Django Reinhardt .
