Andy Emler

Andy Emler (* 1958 ) is a French jazz pianist and synthesizer player, composer and band leader.

Live and act

As a child, Emler had a classical piano training and was a student of Marius Constant at the Conservatoire de Paris . There he founded a piano- vibraphone duo with Antoine Hervé . In addition, a quintet soon emerged with the guitarist Marc Ducret , the trumpeter François Chassagnite , the bassist Philippe Talet and the drummer François Verly . Emler composed two pieces for the Orchester National de Jazz , founded by François Jeanneau in 1986 : Superfrigo and Motorcycle Nana .

In 1990 he founded the Mégaoctet , with which he released two albums on the Bleu label . He also worked with musicians such as Michel Portal , Joachim Kühn , Trilok Gurtu and Daniel Humair . With Emmanuel Bex (organ) and Denis Badault (piano) he formed a keyboard trio in which he plays synthesizers.

In 2015 he realized the album Tubafest on the French record label La Buissonne with tuba player and producer François Thuillier . It was a live recording from 24./25. October 2014 at the Festival Le Triton, Les Lilas. The quartet production Running Backwards came out on the same indie label in 2017 .
