Location of Gersrod in Hesse

Gersrod is a hamlet in the municipality of Hosenfeld in the Fulda district in Hesse . It belongs to the district of Schletzenhausen .

Geographical location

The small village is about one kilometer north of Schletzenhausen an der Jossa in the front Vogelsberg . State road 3141 runs on the western edge of the town and connects Hosenfeld in the south with Hainzell in the north.

history

  • The village was first mentioned in a document in 1265. At that time, the married couple Hermann and Agnes von Blankenwald, with the consent of the Fulda monastery under Abbot Bertho II von Leibolz, gave, among other things, "the place where the village (villulla) Gerisrode was once " for the foundation of the Blankenau nunnery in that her daughter Lukardis should enter. The "villulla" was already deserted at that time .
  • Four years later, in 1269, the village of Goresroda was mentioned in a document from Abbot Bertho II.
  • In 1284 Gorimsrode appears in an agreement between the Blankenau monastery and Simon von Blankenwald. The reason why the place, which may have emerged in the 10th century, became deserted so early is unknown, as is the time of repopulation.
  • The village appears again in 1376, namely in a document from the provost Sibold Wambold von Blankenau. Sibold granted the knight Johann von Blankenwald the lifelong usufruct of some goods in the village of Gorisrode .
  • In 1811 the village had 7 fireplaces with 53 souls while Lübeck, author of the book "Alte Ortschaften des Fuldaer Land, Volume 2", named 52 inhabitants in 1936.
  • In 1812 it is called cherry red.
  • In 1952 there were still 25 farms in Gersrod.

Reorganization

On April 1, 1953, the place gave up its independence and was incorporated into the neighboring municipality of Schletzenhausen . Schletzenhausen was incorporated into the municipality of Hosenfeld as part of the regional reform of the state of Hesse on December 31, 1971 and is one of the eight districts that make up the municipality of Hosenfeld today.

Religions

Gersrod used to belong to the parish of Blankenau. In 1966 it became part of the St. Nikolaus Schletzenhausen branch, which belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of St. Peter and St. Paul in Hosenfeld. The subsidiary church of St. Nikolaus is located in Schletzenhausen .
