Hosenfeld is a municipality in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

Geographical location

Hosenfeld, the center of which is 374 m above sea level. NN Höhe is located in the west of the Fulda district on the eastern foothills of the Vogelsberg , about 19 kilometers from the district town of Fulda .

The oldest surviving documentary mentions of the individual districts of the municipality can be proven as follows: Blankenau 1265, Brandlos 1030, Hainzell 1279, Hosenfeld 1284, Jossa 1375, Pfaffenrod 1582, Poppenrod 1273, Schletzenhausen 1270.

The entire area of the community of Hosenfeld belonged as a court of Hosenfeld to the Oberamt Herbstein of the Hochstift Fulda .

Incorporations

The seven previously independent communities of Blankenau , Brandlos , Hainzell , Jossa , Pfaffenrod , Poppenrod and Schletzenhausen (with Gersrod ) gave up their independence on December 31, 1971 and were incorporated into the existing community of Hosenfeld as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Until 1992, the mayors were elected by the municipal council in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the State of Hesse . This inevitably resulted in their strong involvement in the politics of the parliamentary groups and parties of the majority. With the introduction of direct elections , the directly elected mayor is freer in his actions because he is dependent on the vote of the citizens for his re-election, but not of the parties and parliamentary groups.

Mayor Bruno Block is the first directly elected mayor of the community of Hosenfeld since the introduction of direct elections in 1992. Citizens entitled to vote elected Bruno Block (non-party) on July 7, 1996 with a voter turnout of 81.2% with 64.4% Mayor. Bernd Möller (CDU) ran as a competitor. The re-election took place on September 22, 2002 with a voter turnout of 86.4% with 91% of the votes without opposing candidates. On August 24, 2008 the re-election took place with 73.19% of the votes and a turnout of 54.0%. Due to a sudden illness, the retirement took place on June 30, 2013 for health reasons as a result of the incapacity for work. As part of the resulting new election, Peter Malolepszy (CDU) prevailed on September 22, 2013 with 83.4% against Ulrich Gunka (non-party). Mayor Malolepszy was inaugurated on November 1, 2013.

Catholic

The municipality Hosenfeld belonged to centuries past stately to the monastery of Fulda or bishopric of Fulda , making it from scratch in the Catholic tradition home. The district of Fulda in its current boundaries essentially comprises the core area of the former Fulda monastery and is therefore predominantly Roman Catholic , with the exception of a few smaller regions . In contrast, the former Lauterbach district , which was incorporated into the Vogelsbergkreis in 1972 , was predominantly evangelical ( Protestant ) shaped by the Reformation . The parish churches are in Hosenfeld, Hainzell and Blankenau . Jossa has a branch church dedicated to St. Rochus . In the district of Jossa there is a pilgrimage church, the so-called " Schlingenkapelle " , near the Schlingenmühle . It is consecrated to Mary, the Mother of God. Modern times and the present of the parishes

The Diocese of Fulda , to which Hosenfeld belongs, was reorganized in 2002 by the Bishop of Fulda, Heinz Josef Algermissen , which is known as the "Pastoral Process". Evangelical

The Evangelical Church in the Fulda area, including in Hosenfeld, is in the diaspora . In its history, Hosenfeld has not had its own Protestant parish. This applies to the entire municipality. According to historical knowledge, the Catholic faith was repeatedly defended and strengthened in Hosenfeld by the abbots and later prince-bishops who worked in the Fulda monastery and the later bishopric. The Prince Abbot Balthasar von Dernbach seems to have played a special role . In the course of history, as it is today, the evangelical faith was of little importance.

Hosenfeld is located in the Vogelsberg on the western edge of the largest contiguous forest area in Hesse, the Gieseler Forest of the northeastern Lower Vogelsberg, west of the Fulda valley . The 490 m high Himmelsberg , northwest of the town, is a mountain with a designated nature reserve .

The community of Hosenfeld has a residential complex for the elderly and senior citizens that was built in 2010/12 on the meadow land of the Medler farm on Herrleinweg in Hosenfeld with 60 apartments for the elderly and a house chapel on the ground floor in the center of the village in Herrleinweg. The St. Elisabeth retirement and nursing home is a three-story building with an H-shape that can be seen from a bird's eye view.

Regional cooperation

The community of Hosenfeld is a co-founder of the "Regionalforum Fulda Südwest", a community working group for regional development in the southwest of the Fulda district, founded in May 1998 with the communities of Bad Salzschlirf, Eichenzell, Flieden, Großenlüder, Neuhof and Kalbach. The aim of this association was to obtain state funding from the State of Hesse, the Federal Republic and the European Union. In the funding period from 2000 to 2007, the municipalities united in the regional forum received funding totaling 2.1 million euros for various projects in the member municipalities. Since the merger was transformed into a registered association in 2006, the district craftsmen, the district farmers' association and the working group of nature conservation associations, trade associations and individuals have joined. The regional forum is applying for recognition as a funding region of the European Union according to the so-called LEADER community initiative for the development of rural areas. The chairman from 1998 to 2006 was Mayor Karl Heinz Kaib, Kalbach. The successor in the office of chairman took over from 2006 Hosenfeld's mayor Bruno Block.

In January 2008 the “Regionalforum Fulda Südwest e. V. “recognized as a LEADER funding region of the European Union. The notification of recognition was presented by State Secretary Karl-Winfried Seif in the presence of all mayors and numerous guests in Hosenfeld. For the 2007–2013 funding period, a further 1.3 million euros in funding is available for the region. In the 2014-2020 period, with renewed recognition as a LEADER region, funds amounting to 1.86 million euros are available for the current funding period.

The chairmanship of the association was incumbent on the mayor of the community of Hosenfeld, Bruno Block, from 2006 to spring 2013. Two deputies are at his side. These are the mayor of Neuhof, Maria Schultheis, and the mayor of Eichenzell, Dieter Kolb. The managing director was Stephan Büttner from the foundation until 2012. The office is located in Fulda. Regional management has also been set up and is organized by the regional manager. The Regional Forum Fulda Südwest e. V. is a member of the Association of Hessian Regional Forums, of which it is one of the founding members. After Mayor Block resigned from office - for health reasons - a new election took place in 2013. He was succeeded by Dag Wehner, Mayor of Kalbach. This was followed in 2015 by Christian Henkel, Mayor of the municipality of Flieden.

Since 2007 the Regionalforum Fulda Südwest has also been running a citizen service. This includes services in the home, yard and for older citizens in the region. The regional forum's “Citizens Service” currently employs six people (formerly long-term unemployed) and is supported by the “proHandwerk” initiative of the Fulda District Craftsmen’s Association.

For its joint activities, the “Regional Forum Fulda Südwest” received the “Spar-Euro” donated by the Federation of Taxpayers of Hesse and the Hessian Cities and Towns Association. The Spar-Euro is an award for particularly cost-conscious and economical municipal action.

The mayor of the municipality of Flieden, Christian Henkel, has been chairing the Reginalforum since 2014. His deputy is the mayor of Eichenzell Dieter Kolb.

Hosenfeld can be reached via the federal highways 27 , 40 and 254 on the highways 5 , 7 and 66 .

With the local public transport , Hosenfeld is connected to the Fulda regional center by bus line 60 every hour.

Hosenfeld is about 19 kilometers from the Intercity train station in the Fulda regional center and 16 kilometers from the Vogelsbergbahn (Fulda – Gießen).

Fire protection
