About this picture

Dipperz is a municipality in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

geography

location

Dipperz is about 10 km east of the district town of Fulda in the Rhön .

Due to its favorable location to the city of Fulda and the proximity to the beauties of the Rhön, Dipperz developed into a popular residential community.

Neighboring communities

Dipperz borders in the north and east on the municipality Hofbieber , in the southeast on the municipality Poppenhausen , in the southwest on the municipality Künzell and in the northwest on the municipality Petersberg (all in the district of Fulda).

structure

The community of Dipperz consists of the districts Armenhof , Dipperz, Dörmbach , Finkenhain , Friesenhausen , Kohlgrund , Wisselsrod and Wolferts as well as the single farmstead Alschberg.

history

Dipperz was first mentioned in a document in 1261. The district of Friesenhausen is much older, the first documentary mention goes back to the year 824.

Territorial reform

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the eight previously independent municipalities of Armenhof, Dipperz, Dörmbach (Fulda), Finkenhain, Friesenhausen, Kohlgrund, Wisselsrod and Wolferts were formed into the new municipality of Dipperz on August 1, 1972. At that time the number of inhabitants was 2,300.

religion

The majority of Catholics live in Dipperz. The brick building of the Roman Catholic Church of St. Antonius was built from 1895 to 1896 in neo-Romanesque style after the previous church fell victim to the village fire of 1892. The sculptor Johannes Kirsch from Petersberg created two sculptures over the side portals for the church . The font is late Gothic .
