At 532  m, Wolferts is the highest district of the municipality of Dipperz in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

Geographical location

The small village of Wolferts is around four and a half kilometers from the main town of Dipperz and is located east of it at the foot of the wooded Stellberg ( 727.4  m ) in the Rhön . The Stellberg is the highest point of all districts in the municipality of Dipperz in the Wolfert district. Around 1000 meters northwest of the village, the Altenrain homestead group also belongs to the Wolfert district. The Öchenbach and the Igelbach flow through the district to the west. Both belong to the valley system of the Wanne , a right eastern tributary of the Haune . The district area is 271 hectares (1961), of which 26 hectares are forested.

The village was first mentioned in 824.

The name Wolfshart was first mentioned in the Wildbann boundary description of the Zunderhart monastery in Fulda from the year 1012. Manor and landowner: Eberhard von Eberstein owned Wolferts in 1451 as a dowry from his wife, born von Brenden. In the 16th century village of fuldischen Office Bieberstein . Despite a large following among the population, the Reformation in the abbey of Fulda could not prevail. The place remained Catholic. In 1787 it belonged to the prince abbey of Fulda, Amt Bieberstein and in 1790 had 4 Hüttner u. 8 Hintersiedler. 1812 is Wolfert's daughter church in Margretenhaun.

Territorial reform

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the last small communities like Wolferts lost their independence by law. With effect from August 1, 1972, the municipalities of Armenhof , Dipperz, Dörmbach , Finkenhain , Friesenhausen , Kohlgrund , Wisselsrod and Wolferts were amalgamated to form a large municipality called Dipperz .

The state road 3330 , which leads from Langenbieber via Kleinsassen to Poppenhausen (Wasserkuppe) , runs through Wolferts . The county road 24 to Finkenhain runs through the village.
