Geographical location

As a scattered settlement, Kohlgrund is around two and a half kilometers from the core town of Dipperz and includes little wooded lowlands of the western Rhön to the south . The district extends around the Kohlgrundgraben and the Diffenbach as well as the upper Haune , into which both flow. The municipal area is 460 hectares (1961), of which 69 hectares are forested.

history

The Dipperz substation is located in the Kohlgrund district

The name Kohlgrund first appears in a tribute register of the Fulda Centers' Office in 1603. After 1811 the community consisted of the scattered farms of Diffenbach, Geiersnest, Hahnerhof, Klübersborn, Kohlgrund, Sandberg, Strauch, Unterdassen and Unterwiegrain .

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the last small communities like Kohlgrund lost their independence by virtue of the law. With effect from August 1, 1972, the communities of Armenhof , Dipperz, Dörmbach , Finkenhain , Friesenhausen , Kohlgrund, Wisselsrod and Wolferts were merged to form a community called Dipperz .

traffic
