Michael Mott
Michael Mott (born August 12, 1943 in Fulda ) is a German homeland researcher .
Life
Mott became a half-orphan at the age of one after his father fell in Ukraine . In 1951 his mother remarried and moved with him from Poppenhausen (Wasserkuppe) to the then still more rural Fulda district of Neuenberg. He attended secondary school, where his interest in local history was aroused. Then he learned the job of telecommunications technician in Kassel , in which he made many electrotechnical inventions. As a part-time teacher, he taught at the training center of the Deutsche Bundespost in Heusenstamm and was also active in the disaster control of the Deutsche Bundespost . Because of his interest in local history, he has been researching in the Fulda city archive since 1977. To date, he has published the knowledge he gained there in over 1,000 articles. A large part is published in the supplement Buchenblätter of the Fuldaer Zeitung . With its practical work as a researcher he found in 1984 at Uffhausen a flat fire grave from the Middle Hallstatt period , which was notgeborgen. A year earlier, the discovery of a barrow he had discovered near Zillbach ( Büchenberg ) was reported.
He is u. a. Long-standing member of the Fulda Monument Advisory Board, since 1998 as deputy chairman. His activities also include lectures, readings, exhibitions and excursions . Together with his wife Hella, Mott is also the organizer of the annual memorial event for the victims of the bombing raids on Fulda in the Second World War .
