According to the Law on the Order of Crafts ( HwO ), the district craft associations have the following tasks:

  • to support the craft guilds in fulfilling their tasks,
  • To create or support institutions to promote and represent the commercial, economic and social interests of the members of the craft guilds,
  • to support the authorities in the measures affecting the independent craft and craft-like trade in their district and to give them suggestions, information and expert opinions,
  • to conduct the business of the craft guilds at their request,
  • to carry out the regulations and orders issued by the Chamber of Crafts within its jurisdiction.

The legal membership of the guilds in the district craftsmen is in §§ 86ff. HwO regulated.
