The Semliki National Park , or Semuliki National Park, is located in Uganda , north of the Ruwenzori Mountains and south of Lake Albert . The national park comprises a spur of the Ituri rainforest , which is mainly in the DR Congo . The area should not be confused with the nearby Semliki game reserve, which has different habitats and extends to the shores of Lake Albert.

Eight different species of primates are found in the park, the most common being black and white colobus monkeys , but also their relatives, the Uganda colobus monkey . Other species of monkeys are Gray-cheeked mangabey , red-tailed monkey , De Brazza's Monkey , Blue monkey , Vervet Monkey and Baboon . The forest is also home to forest elephants , African buffalo , bush pig , white-bellied duiker and Batesbok . However, you are more likely to see the tree-climbing firefoot squirrel and red-footed sun squirrel . The fig trees attract the blue giant turaco and the smaller horse turaco , but also up to nine species of hornbills . Sitatungas can be seen at the hot springs in the park near Sempaya and hippos can be seen in the rivers . In addition to numerous waders, there are also olive pigeons and naked- faced green pigeons , which appear to drink at sunset. Other residents of the park are Rotflanken-Breitrachen , the smallest African woodpecker gray belly mouse Specht , Fleckenibis , White-bellied Kingfisher , African Rotfußralle and also several types Bulbuls , finches and weavers .
