St. Bartholomäus is a Roman Catholic parish church in Hauswurz , municipality Neuhof , in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda , which belongs to the diocese of Fulda .

The church building is at Taufsteinstraße 7 - corner of Brandloser Straße 2. It is under the patronage of St. Bartholomew , whose feast day the Catholic Church celebrates on August 26th.

history

Houseleek became a parish in 1534 and came to the parish of Freiensteinau in 1537 .

Today's parish church was built in 1751 under the Fulda bishop Amand von Buseck . Towards the end of the Second World War , it was largely destroyed on March 31, 1945 by artillery shelling by American troops and burned out with its inventory . A reconstruction while retaining the remaining structure (the outer walls) took place in 1948/49. A new sacristy was later added to the three-sided choir wall . Next to the church in front of the sacristy there is a memorial stone that commemorates the destruction of the church and village during World War II.

The parish is currently one of the six Catholic parishes in the municipality Neuhof, in the majority of Catholics. It belongs to the pastoral association Christ the Redeemer Flieden-Houseleek and includes the parishes of Rückers , Flieden , Houseleek and Magdlos .

Until the beginning of December 2017, the parish houseleek included the branch churches " Mariä Himmelfahrt " in Buchenrod and " Maria Rosenkranzkönigin " in Weidenau as well as pastoral care the districts Kauppen of the community Neuhof and Brandlos in the northern neighboring community Hosenfeld .

The parish boundaries were changed with effect from the 1st Sunday in Advent 2017, as the parish Hauswurz with the villages of Weidenau, Kauppen, Brandlos and Buchenrod lost its pastor and could no longer have its own pastor due to the lack of young priests. It is now being looked after by the parish of St. Michael Neuhof.

Parapets

The villages of Brandlos and Buchenrod were "re- pastured ", ie Brandlos will belong to the parish of St. Peter and Paul, Hosenfeld from 1st Advent 2017 and the Buchenrod branch to the parish of St. Goar Flieden . After the changes in the regional reform in Hesse , the church structures were also adapted to local conditions.
