Buchenrod is a district of the municipality of Flieden in the south of the East Hessian district of Fulda .

Buchenrod is located in the eastern foothills of the Vogelsberg in the south of the Gieseler Forest belonging to the Lower Vogelsberg . It borders Rommerz in the east-northeast , Magdlos in the south and Kauppen in the west . With about 450 to 485  m above sea level. NHN Buchenrod is the highest place in the municipality of Flieden. The Knöschen ( Gefels ; 508.7  m ) rises to the north .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1366 in a document from the Johannesberg provost. Later the village lay desolate for a while.

In the Turkish tax register of the prince abbey of Fulda from 1605 the place is mentioned under the name Buchenroth with 13 families.

In addition to the Catholic Church of the Assumption, built in 1925, there is a Marian grotto and a cemetery .

The Catholic believers in Houseleek belong to the Catholic parish of St. Bartholomew Houseleek with the Parish Church of St. Bartholomew , which is part of the pastoral association Christ the Redeemer Flieden-Houseleek and is thus assigned to the diocese of Fulda .

politics

From 1914 there was a school in the village, the building of which is now used as a village community center.

In the town council are the CDU and the SPD represented. In the local elections in 2011, the CDU obtained a majority of the votes and thus has a majority in the local council. The mayor is Frank Krah.

Reorganization

On April 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Buchenrod was incorporated into the municipality of Flieden.
