Schweben is a district of the municipality of Flieden in the south of the East Hessian district of Fulda .

The place borders in the north on Neuhof , in the east on Mittelkalbach , in the south on Hutten , in the west on Rückers and in the north-west on Flieden.

history

Floating was mentioned for the first time in a document in 806 when several residents bequeathed their properties to the Fulda monastery . This makes the place one of the oldest in the Fulda district. In 2006 there was a 1200th anniversary celebration.

On August 1, 1972, Schweben was incorporated into the municipality of Flieden as part of the regional reform in Hesse by virtue of state law.

politics

In the town council only is CDU represented. In the local elections in 2011, the CDU obtained a majority of the votes and thus has a majority in the local council. Mayor is Michael Resch (CDU).

religion

There is a Roman Catholic church in the village , the branch church of Judas Thaddäus of the parish of St. Goar in Flieden .

Public facilities

In addition to a community center there is a culture barn, a youth room and two playgrounds (including a water playground).
