Yegor Ilyich Titov ( Russian Егор Ильич Титов ; born May 29, 1976 in Moscow ) is a former Russian football player .
Career
The midfielder played for Spartak Moscow from 1992 to 2008 and was voted Russian Footballer of the Year in 1998 and 2000 . In 2008 he switched to FK Chimki . He left this club in February 2009 and played the 2009 season at Lokomotive Astana . Then he ended his career.
National team
Titov completed a total of 41 missions for the Russian national team and took part with this in the 2002 World Cup. In qualifying for the 2004 European Championships, Titov caused a scandal when he tested positive for doping after a game against Wales . He was therefore banned for a year. In September 2005 Titow celebrated his comeback in the national team. His last international match was in February 2007. A few months later, in September 2007, Titov announced his retirement from the national team.
