structure

The stream of "cold Lüder" runs depending on the valley shape in a stretched or slightly meandering narrow stream bed , which consist of a main channel and side channels further partially. The river bed consists in quiet sections of fine-grained, but otherwise almost exclusively of coarse substrate such as stones and gravel. Larger gravel banks and scours below deadwood or root barriers are frequently encountered. Characteristic of the "Kalte Lüder" is a constant alternation between flat rapid and deeper stills. During the year, depending on the weather, there are large fluctuations in discharge. The "Kalte Lüder" is a coarse material-rich , silicate low mountain stream (type 5) is one of the types of flowing water specified by LAWA . The water code number is 4236-4.

The course of the watercourse has very varied valley meadows that are still in agricultural use with hay meadows , from pasture meadows with smaller numbers of cattle and cattle, but also from succession (no longer cultivated) meadows, as well as from wet areas with a corresponding flora, among others like the Water sword lily (iris pseudacorus), common buttercup (Ranunculus acris), marsh marigold (Caltha palustris), celandine (Ficaria verna), globe flower (Trollius europaeus), common dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) and other species. The water has a very good water quality . In the 1980s, the valley train from Landesstraße 3079 ( Hosenfeld –Sieberzmühle– Giesel ) down the valley with the Himmelsberg adjoining to the east was supposed to have the character of a protected area . However, this plan was not implemented.
