Malkes is a district of the East Hessian city of Fulda .

geography

The district is located west of the core city on the Erbach. The Antsanvia , an old road that led from Mainz to Eisenach, ran through the village .

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1180. The place name changed from Obermalkos and Obern-Malkos to today's Malkes.

On August 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Malkes was incorporated into the city of Fulda by means of state law as part of the regional reform in Hesse . Prior to this, efforts were made to integrate the Lütterz part of the community of Lütterz, which is now Grossenlüder, into what was then the municipality of Bimbach , for which an integration contract was concluded in 1971. However, this merger never came about because the communities of Bimbach and Lütterz were incorporated into the community of Großenlüder and the community of Malkes became a district of Fulda.

In 2000, Malkes was the state winner in the competition Our village has a future .
