The Nordend is a district of the East Hessian city ​​of Fulda .

location

The Nordend district lies between the railway in the west and the B 27 in the east. Neighboring districts start clockwise in the north: Niesig , Lehnerz , Ziehers-Nord , Ostend , Innenstadt and Frauenberg .

Economy and Infrastructure

In the Nordend, small retail spaces and a few service providers from various industries can be found primarily on Leipziger Strasse. Furthermore, the local supply is ensured by a discounter.

The district administration of the district of Fulda has its seat, the district office , in the north end.

The Fulda University of Applied Sciences is also located in the north end on Leipziger Strasse. The name Nordend is also used to create identity for many clubs and groups.

The Am Galgengraben green area can be used for local recreation. There are also many allotment gardens in the Nordend, especially in Ludwig-Beck-Straße and Birkenallee .

The north end is crossed by several city bus routes and regional bus routes. In the Leipziger Straße area, the city buses mainly operate in the direction of the northern Fulda districts and the northern Petersberg districts. The RhönRadBus (line 90) also runs on Leipziger Straße.

In the Magdeburger Straße area, the city buses mainly run in the direction of Ziehens Nord and in the direction of the towns and communities in the Hessian Rhön.

After the city bus lines have closed, the Nordend is served by collective call taxis in local public transport.

Road traffic

The main traffic artery of the north end is Leipziger Straße, which begins in the Fulda city center below the Frauenberg at the Weimar tunnel , crosses the north end and leads to the Lehnerz district . The second important traffic artery in Nordend is Magdeburger Strasse in the direction of Ziehers Nord and Petersberg.

Both roads are arterial roads . Leipziger Straße has a direct connection to the B 27 .
