Niesig is a district of the East Hessian city of Fulda . The district borders the core city in the south.
history
In 1160 the village was first mentioned in a document with the name Nuasazi . Settlement probably took place around 800. In 1510 the village was called Neuses , in 1605 it was called Nüseß and from 1790 it was called Niesig. In 1908 a classroom was set up in what was then the inn.
On August 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Niesig was incorporated into the city of Fulda by means of state law as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

On June 12, 1970, the municipality of Niesig was awarded a coat of arms with the following blazon : The coat of arms shows a black cross in front in a split shield and a golden ear of corn on the back on a blue background.
Attractions
- In the Niesiger local recreation area “Am Gerlos”, framed by natural monuments of the Niesiger Forest, there is the “Gerlos little house” near the desert Gerlos Hof. It was probably built around the middle of the 18th century as a hunter's and forest ranger's house.
