Sickels is a district of the East Hessian city of Fulda and is about 2.5 km west of the city center.
geography
In the north, Sickels borders the new Galerie district , in the east on Neuenberg, in the south on Johannesberg and Zirkenbach and in the west on Niederrode .
history
The village was first mentioned in 956.
In 1197 the abbot of Fulda owned the court there. Sickels was a daughter church of Heimbach . 1787 the village was Fürstabtei Fulda , Fulda cents Oberamt assigned. With the secularization of the Diocese of Fulda in 1803 it went to the Principality of Nassau-Orange-Fulda . In 1816 it belonged to the Electorate of Hesse , Grand Duchy of Fulda , Landamt Fulda.
Incorporation
On August 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Sickels was incorporated into the city of Fulda by means of state law as part of the regional reform in Hesse . In 2006 Sickels celebrated its 1050th anniversary.

Public facilities
Sickels has a community center and a kindergarten. Parish is the Catholic parish of St. Markus in Haimbach. The Friedenskirche Fulda-Bronnzell is responsible for the Protestant parishioners.

The transport connection to Sickels takes place via the state road L3079 from Fulda towards Neuhof-Giesel and Hosenfeld and via the Westring Fulda. The federal highway 27 (Fulda– Bad Brückenau ) runs southeast of the place, the next junction Fulda-Süd of the federal highway 66 is about 8 km away. The closest train station is the Fulda train station in the city center, which offers connections to regional and long-distance traffic. Sickels is connected to the local public transport network by city bus routes 3 and 5 operated by the local local transport company Fulda . The journey to the city center takes 15 minutes.
