Gläserzell ( formerly : Glasaricella ; meaning: cell of the glassmaker ) is a district of osthessischen city Fulda . The river Fulda flows through the district.
Neighboring districts
The neighboring districts are Kämmerzell in the north, Aschenberg in the east, Maberzell in the west and Horas in the south .
history
The place was first mentioned in the year 927. At that time, monks of the Fulda monastery settled in the Fulda valley to produce glass as a glass burner for the monastery. The location on the Fulda, with sandy soil and surrounded by forests, was ideal for glass production. This is how the glassmaker's cell, the so-called "Glasericella" or "Glesercelle", came about. Glasseszell was first mentioned in a document in 956.
On August 1, 1972, the formerly independent community of Gläserzell was incorporated into the city of Fulda as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
