Lennart Olsson

Lennart Olsson (born September 5, 1961 in Järvsö, Sweden ) is a Swedish zoologist and embryologist . Since 2000 he has been a professor for special zoology at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena .

Life

After graduating from high school, Olsson completed training as a dental technician in Umeĺ , which he completed in 1980. He then studied biology at Stockholm University until 1988 and received his doctorate in 1993 at Uppsala University , where he was then employed as a research assistant. In 2000 he was offered a professorship at the University of Jena. There he conducted research at the Institute for Special Zoology and Evolutionary Biology with the Phyletic Museum. In 2005 he taught for two months as a visiting professor at the Museum of Comparative Zoology and OE at Harvard University .

Research priorities

The focus of his research is the embryological development of the vertebrate head. He also made significant contributions to the history of ideas in comparative anatomy .
