Modern times
Second World War
A destroyed school and buildings were the result of an air raid on Edelzell and Engelhelms on March 17, 1945. It was a Saturday off school when there was a full alarm around 11 a.m. The air attack was on Fulda. whose explosion vibrations were perceived as far as Edelzell. The usual all-clear was a long time coming and the first left the air raid shelter. In a second wave of attacks from the direction of Florenberg / Engelhelms, the school was hit and turned into ruins. Unlike in Engelhelms, human lives were nothing to complain about.
Reorganization
As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Edelzell was incorporated into the independent city of Fulda at the same time as other suburban municipalities on August 1, 1972 by virtue of state law , but came back to the Fulda district on July 1, 1974 together with it.
