Kohlhaus is a district of the city of Fulda in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

geography

The district is located south of the core city. The old trade route Ortweg ran through the village . Federal road 27 , federal road 254 and state roads 3307 and 3418 run through and along the town .

history

In 1195 the village of the Steinhaus mayor of the Fulda Central Office was first mentioned in a document.

In 1787 it was assigned to the prince abbey of Fulda, Centoberamt Fulda.

At Kohlhaus the transition of the old trade route ( "Alte Straße" ) Via Regia from Frankfurt to Leipzig over the Fulda was already in the early Middle Ages .

A stone bridge was built near Kohlhaus at the beginning of the 18th century.

The eastern part of the bridge with the figures of Maria and Josef was built under the Fulda abbot Adalbert von Schleiffras during his term in Fulda from 1700 to 1714.

Before 1771, under Prince-Bishop Heinrich von Bibra , the western part of the stone bridge was extended and the statues of St. Boniface and Emperor Heinrich II . crowned. His coat of arms with the year of construction is attached to the south side.

Incorporation

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the formerly independent municipality of Kohlhaus was incorporated into the independent city of Fulda on August 1, 1972, together with other suburban municipalities by virtue of state law , but returned to the Fulda district on July 1, 1974.
