Kohlhausen is a district of Bad Hersfeld , located in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg , in Hesse .

geography

Neighboring places (clockwise) are Asbach in the west, Eichhof in the northwest, Johannesberg in the northeast, Kerspenhausen in the south and Beiershausen in the southwest. The municipality of Niederaula borders in the south.

Kohlhausen lies in the Fulda valley and spreads out on the western slope of the Johannesberg. The district is located on the right bank of the Fulda , about five kilometers southeast of Bad Hersfeld. Kohlhausen can be reached via the state road  3431, which branches off the federal road 62 in Asbach . The built-up area is 201  m above sea level. NN on the Fulda and rises to 265  m above sea level. NN on the slopes of the Johannesberg ( 368  m above sea  level ).

On December 31, 1971, Kohlhausen was incorporated into the district town of Bad Hersfeld.

The forest and hiking trails leading around the district and the excellent view of the surrounding communities are of particular tourist interest.

The so-called "goose lawn" is also of interest. In the summer months, many tourists come there to see the view of the Fulda that is offered here. A bath is also possible here in the Fulda and a jetty for canoeists and other rowers is available on the goose lawn. There are also two football goals on this meadow.

Above the goose lawn there is an inn that is known for slaughtered cabbage (a regional culinary specialty). In 1991 Helmut Kohl also visited Kohlhausen to have this specialty served.

On the outskirts of Kohlhausen there is still the grill hut , where the traditional fire brigade festival takes place every year.

In the center of Kohlhausen there is the village community center , where events such as B. Exhibitions and LAN parties take place.
