history

The first documentary mention of Sorga was in 1526 as "New Concern". In 1533 it was mentioned as “Höfe zu Sorge”.

In the Middle Ages, the Altstrasse ran through the short Hessians past the village near Sorga , which crossed the Solz via a ford . Farmers settled here early on and offered travelers, among other things, pre-tensioning services. From this "Niedersultz" (the Solzer Höfe) developed. As a village they probably only developed along the new country road that led to the Werra (today's federal road).

It is assumed that shortly before the climb over the Seulingswald there was also a carter inn called Sorge . This is how today's place name arose. The name can also be related to the road situation : the new border, then called the new frame , could easily become the new concern .

Since 1612 the place belonged to the Petersberg court.

Melchior Rinck built a larger Anabaptist community in Sorga in the early years of the Reformation until he was arrested in 1529. His parish was expelled from the country by the landgrave in 1533. Many emigrated to Moravia .

On December 31, 1971, Sorga was incorporated into the district town of Bad Hersfeld.

Transport and infrastructure

The federal road 62 leads through the place. Until 1993 the place had a train station on the route of the Hersfelder Kreisbahn . Today the Solztalradweg runs through Sorga on the former railway line .

To the south, above the place on the Glasbachsrück, runs the federal highway 4 .

Two cycle routes lead through the village . The Solztal cycle path is now part of the Hesse railway cycle path . This leads from Hanau on former railway lines about 250 km through the Vogelsberg and the Rhön and ends in Bad Hersfeld, as well as the Hessian long-distance cycle route R7 . The R7 has the motto: " From the Lahn to the Werra " and leads over 215 km through the Lahn valley , the Vogelsberg and the Fulda valley .
