Lutz Kohlhaus

Lutz Kohlhaus (* 14. May 1961 in Ostercappeln in Osnabrück ) is a Major General of the Air Force of the Armed Forces and Vice Chairman of the NATO Air and Missile Defense Committee in Brussels , Belgium .

Military career

Training and first uses

Kohlhaus joined the German Armed Forces in 1980 and completed the officers 'course at the Air Force officers' school in Fürstenfeldbruck by 1981 . He then studied education and political science at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg from 1981 to 1984 . He then completed his training as an anti-aircraft missile officer NIKE at the Air Force missile school in El Paso , Texas, USA . From 1986 to 1988 he was deployed for the first time as a fire control officer and platoon leader in the 3rd squadron of the anti-aircraft missile battalion 25 in Wagenfeld . In 1988 he was retrained again at the Air Force Missile School on the Patriot weapon system . Then Kohlhaus served until 1990 as leader of the combat crews and deputy squadron chief in the 4th squadron of the anti-aircraft missile battalion 21 in dates . From 1990 to 1992 he was employed as an S3 staff officer in the anti-aircraft missile squadron 21 in Möhnesee-Echtrop . From 1992 to 1993 he was employed as a personnel manager in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn . From 1993 to 1995 Kohlhaus completed general staff training at the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg.

Service as a staff officer

After graduating from the Germans, Kohlhaus also took part in the French general staff training at the Collège interarmeé de Défense (CID) in Paris from 1995 to 1996 . From 1996 to 1999 he served as a consultant at the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn. Here he was first responsible for the organization of the air force and later for advanced air defense . Afterwards Kohlhaus was deployed from 1999 to 2002 as German air defense representative and NATO expansion advisor at the German NATO mission in Brussels . This was followed by a two-year assignment in the ministry as a staff officer, before he took over responsibility for the anti-aircraft missile squadron 2 "Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania" in Bad Sülze from 2004 to 2007 as a commodore . From 2007 to 2008 Kohlhaus completed courses at the French Center for Higher Military Studies (CHEM) and at the Institute for Higher Studies in National Defense (IHEDN) in Paris. From 2008 to 2009 he was a group leader in the air force command for operations command service , anti- aircraft missiles and object protection of the air force . From 2009 to 2012, Kohlhaus was Head of Division in the Federal Ministry of Defense, responsible for the personnel management of the Supreme and Generals of the Air Force.

General uses

From 2012 to 2016 Kohlhaus was employed as Head of Personnel / Organization / Training in the Luftwaffe Command in Cologne-Wahn . On July 7, 2016, he took over his current post as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff in the Air Force Command from Major General Robert Löwenstein . In this post he was also promoted to major general. On September 1, 2019, Kohlhaus became Vice Chairman of the NATO Air and Missile Defense Committee in Brussels, Belgium. The previous post holder, Major General Bernhardt Schlaak, took over his post in the air force command.

Kohlhaus is married.
