The Protestant St. Matthew Church

history

The Trätzhof was founded in 1938 as a result of the relocation policy of the National Socialists . On the local area there was previously a domain (formerly owned by the Fulda Jesuit College ), on which Dalherda farmers were settled, who had to leave their village Dalherda in the Rhön because of the establishment of the Wildflecken military training area . This youngest and, due to the origin of its residents, the only district with a Protestant majority population was only given a church in 1956 due to the war - the St.

Around 220 of the former 1000 inhabitants of Dalherda are said to have decided to move to the Trätzhof and thus to move from the Rhön to the city of Fulda. The first 30 houses in the new village were alike in architecture and allowed those who farmed in Dalherda to continue doing so. So they were assigned fields and fields with a size of one to five hectares. By the end of 1938, 32 families had been resettled, but they found unfinished houses in which construction work had not yet been completed. The roads were also still unpaved.

The village community center

Over the years, the townscape has changed fundamentally. So a school and a Protestant church were built. By 2013 Trätzhof had grown from 32 to 93 residential buildings without losing its village character. Today 350 people live there.
