The old church

It was a simple fortified church with a court of death / cemetery as a hall church . The old fortified church was demolished and rebuilt in 1847 during the reign of Bishop Christoph Florentius Kött . The current nave from this period has three window axes with segmented arched windows and an apse . After the completion of the new parish church, it was profaned and used privately since 2002 and is a listed building . The old bell tower still has the bell ringing and is still used for the new parish church.

Bells

In the bell tower of the old church there is a four- bell that is also used for the new church. The new Holy Cross Church was built without a bell tower. The daily strike of the hour is carried out with a striking mechanism with a half- hour strike on the full and half-hour and when the angel is rung . In addition to the clock, there are three bells in the church tower. The smallest bell, the Andreas bell, was preserved during the First World War and the Second World War and, unlike the other bells from the 19th century, did not have to be delivered to the bell cemeteries in Hamburg for war purposes.

useful information
