Oberrode is a district of the East Hessian city of Fulda .
geography
Oberrode is located in the west of the core town of Fulda. In the north Oberrode borders on Besges , in the east on Mittelrode and in the southeast on Niederrode . Oberrode is surrounded by the Gieseler Forest from southeast to northwest , so that the small village still has the character of a village with farms and many fields.
The village is surrounded by forest on three sides as part of the Rodetal.
history
The place was founded in 1020, the name in the word "Rode" indicates a clearing .
Reorganization
On August 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Oberrode was incorporated into the city of Fulda by means of state law as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

Buildings
The Saint Hubertus Church was built in 1963. The Mariengrotto, a replica of the Lourdes grotto , was consecrated in 1949.

Mardi Gras
Oberrode is also a "stronghold" of Carnival , with its own Elferrat and Rose Monday parade .

The place is approached by the Fulda city bus line 4. The nearest train stop is in Großenlüder-Bimbach , around four kilometers from Oberrode. The Fulda train station is about eight kilometers from Oberrode.
The closest motorway junctions are on the A 7 Fulda-Nord and Fulda-Mitte and the Fulda motorway triangle is on the A 7 and A 66 . The Fuldaer Westring as well as the Fulda city center can be reached via the state road 3139 .
