François Thuillier
François Thuillier (* 1967) is a French tuba and saxhorn player and composer who works in the fields of classical music, new improvisation music and jazz .
Live and act
Thuillier grew up in Doullens and then studied at the Conservatories of Amiens , Lille and Roubaix , before completing his studies with Fernand Lelong with prizes at the central Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris in 1986 . At the same time he pursued an education at the Center d'informations musicales in Paris . In 1989 he founded his own harmony orchestra . With this he performed compositions by, among others, Andy Emler , Jean-Marie Machado , Denis Badault and Franck Steckar. He has also performed works by Patrice Caratini , Jean Gobinet , Sylvain Kassap and Vinko Globokar as a soloist . As the European TV Brass Trio , he appeared together with Matthias Schriefl and Daniel Casimir . In the field of jazz he also worked with Marc Steckars tuba pack , the big band Quoi de neuf Docteur , with Michel Marre , Martial Solal , Louis Sclavis / Bernard Struber ( Le Phare ) and Patrice Caratini. He was also involved in productions by the Ensemble intercontemporain and the Lyon Opera. He can also be heard as a studio musician on almost 100 records, including by Sapho , Dick Annegarn , Michel Fugain , Michel Sardou , Gilbert Bécaud , Thomas Fersen and film music , and goes on tour with the euphonium player Anthony Caillet.
Thuillier is a professor at the Amiens Conservatory, has published his own compositions and teaching materials ( progression: méthode pour saxhorn, euphonium ) and has directed the Montonvillers Jazz Festival since 2004 .
