Harmony (orchestral form)

A harmony , also known as a harmony orchestra or harmony music , is a form of the wind orchestra that is particularly widespread in the Benelux and Switzerland . In contrast to the fanfare (orchestral form) and brass band that are also widespread there , a harmony orchestra has flutes and clarinets as well as brass , saxophones and percussion .

The name has its historical roots in the harmony music of the 18th and 19th centuries. Century.

The term " symphonic wind orchestra " is used synonymously with a harmony orchestra . Here, too, the clarinets take on the role of the violins. Depending on the work, an electric bass or a piano can also be integrated.
