The Army Achievement Medal (German Heeres-Leistungsmedaille ) is an Achievement Medal of the armed forces of the United States , which is awarded for military service to team ranks, NCOs and junior officers when the Army Commendation Medal cannot be used.

All branches of the armed forces have their own achievement medal, the Army Achievement Medal is intended for the military service of the United States Army .

The first Achievement Medals were created by the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard in 1961. The Army Achievement Medal has existed since 1981.

Multiple awards are shown with golden or silver oak leaves .

In the Order of Precedence, the Achievement Medals rank below the Commendation Medals, such as the Joint Service Commendation Medal or the Army Commendation Medal and above the Commandant's Letter of Commendation and the Combat Action Ribbons.
