Stephan Portmann

Stephan Portmann (born January 1, 1933 in Langendorf SO ; † March 29, 2003 in Panajachel , Guatemala ) was a Swiss media educator and publicist. He was the first director of the Solothurn Film Festival .

Life

Portmann studied philosophy, pedagogy, German literature and theater studies in Bern and Paris and received his doctorate with the work Evil - the powerlessness of reason for Dr. phil. He worked as a media pedagogue at the Solothurn teacher training college, at the University of Freiburg, at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin, at the Zurich School of Design and at the Swiss television station DRS. He has made numerous films, was assistant director at Fredi M. Murer's film Bernhard Luginbühl (1966) and co-author of various films by Gertrud Pinkus (including Anna Göldin - Last Witch ).

Stephan Portmann was co-initiator of the Solothurn Film Festival in 1966, which he headed as President of the Management Board until 1987. In 2000 he received the Prize for Film and Film Mediation of the Canton of Solothurn.

Portmann's first marriage (from 1954) to Johanna Maria Sieber, and his second marriage (from 1988) to Gertrud Pinkus.
