Orsa Gertrud Pinkus (born September 11, 1944 in Nennigkofen ) is a Swiss film and theater director .

Life

Gertrud Pinkus grew up as Gertrud Baumgartner in Bucheggberg near Solothurn. After an assistant stage design at the Stadttheater Basel , she completed her training as a stage designer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1965 to 1968 . University diploma in stage design. In addition, she attended directing courses at the Institute for Theater Studies in Munich. As a result, she staged plays and designed sets, but also took part in street and action theaters, performances, installations and art happenings.

From 1971 to 1975 Gertrud Pinkus worked at Proscop-Film in Frankfurt am Main , which made documentaries in coproduction with ARD and ZDF . During this time, Pinkus learned camera work, sound recording, assembly and production management. She worked u. a. in the films Isle of Wight (1971), Three Years After May (1971), Non piangere (1972) and Hablan los muros (1973).

From 1975 Gertrud Pinkus made her own documentaries on behalf of various production and television companies, and later also feature films . Her first feature film, Il valore della donna è il suo silenzio , was awarded the German Film Prize (film ribbon in silver). She became known in particular through Anna Göldin - Last Witch , a feature film based on the novel by Eveline Hasler .

In 1988 Gertrud Pinkus married Stephan Portmann ; her first marriage was to Marco Pinkus, father of a daughter. In 1993 she moved to Central America and lived in Mexico , Costa Rica and Guatemala ; In 2005 she returned to Switzerland, where she participated in interdisciplinary art projects with large-scale projections and video installations.

Since 2014, Gertrud Koch's Vorlass has been in the documentation center in Zurich, the Swiss-German location of the Swiss film archive .
