Henri Challan

Henri Challan (born December 12, 1910 in Asnières-sur-Seine , † 1977 ) was a French composer .

Challan was a student of Jean Gallon and Henri Busser at the Conservatoire in Paris . In 1936 he won the Prix ​​de Rome . He taught as a professor of harmony at the Conservatoire. His students included Michel Legrand , Antoine Hervé , Henri Loche , Pierre Pincemaille , Henri-Claude Fantapié , Anne-Marie Barat , Alain Louvier and Édith Lejet .

Challan composed a symphony (1942), a violin concerto and other orchestral works, a sonata for violin and piano, a suite for bassoon and piano, a string quartet, a quintet for strings and bassoon and numerous didactic works.

His twin brother René Challan was also a composer.
