Henri-Claude Fantapié (born September 9, 1938 in Nice ) is a French conductor .

Fantapié studied in Nice with Eugène Gosselin and René Saorgin , in Monte Carlo with Marc-César Scotto , Marcel Gonzalès and Lucien Marzo and from 1958 to 1962 in Paris composition with Henri Dutilleux , counterpoint with Jacques Chailley and orchestral direction with Eugène Bigot and Igor Markevitch . From 1959 to 1963 he directed the Chamber Orchestra of Monaco . In 1964 he founded Les Solistes de Paris , a chamber orchestra with which he gave more than six hundred concerts in Europe and Africa and made numerous radio recordings. Since 1982 he devoted himself increasingly to orchestral pedagogy, u. a. He directed the orchestra of the European Union of Music Schools and the Jeune Philharmonie de Seine-Saint-Denis . In addition to works of contemporary French music, he devoted himself particularly to Finnish music and the restoration of compositions by Italian baroque composers . From 1964 to 1972 he was General Secretary of the Union of French Orchestra Directors.
