Pierre Pincemaille
Pierre Marie Pincemaille (born December 8, 1956 in Paris , † January 12, 2018 in Suresnes ) was a French composer , organist and music teacher .
Life
Pierre Pincemaille studied at the Paris Conservatory with Henri Challan , Jean-Claude Raynaud, Marcel Bitsch , Jacques Castérède and Rolande Falcinelli . He graduated with five Premier Prix ( harmony , counterpoint , fugue , organ , improvisation ).
Since 1987 he has been titular organist at the organ of the Saint-Denis basilica near Paris , where the first large organ (1840) by the French organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll is located. In June 2018 his student Quentin Guérillot took over the post of titular organist.
Pincemaille was a professor at the Conservatories of Paris (counterpoint), Lyon, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (improvisation) and Saint-Germain-en-Laye (harmony and counterpoint). In addition, he performed worldwide as an organist and made numerous recordings, including the ten organ symphonies by Charles-Marie Widor and the entire organ works by Maurice Duruflé and César Franck .
Pincemaille died of lung cancer on 2018 at the age of 61 in Suresnes hospital .
