Jacques Castérède

Jacques Castérède (born April 10, 1926 in Paris , † April 6, 2014 in Dijon ) was a French composer.

Life

After graduating from Lycée Buffon , Castérède studied at the Conservatoire de Paris from 1944 to 1953 with Tony Aubin and Olivier Messiaen . In 1953 he won the Prix ​​de Rome with his cantata “ La Boîte de Pandore ” . The prize money allowed him to stay in the Villa Medici (Rome) from 1954 to 1958 .

From 1960 to 1995 he was professor in various subjects at the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1988 and 1998 he gave composition courses at the Central Conservatory of Beijing , mainly related to contemporary French music.
