Asnières-sur-Seine [ aˈnjɛːʀ ] (until 1968 the official name was Asnières ) is a town in the Hauts-de-Seine department in France . It is located northwest of Paris and belongs to the metropolitan area (fr. Banlieue ) of the metropolis. The city has 85,191 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) and an area of 4.82 km². The height above sea level is given as 22 to 43 m. The inhabitants are called Asniérois .
One of the city's most important sights is the Cimetière des chiens , which is believed to be the world's oldest pet cemetery, opened in 1899. There is u. a. also the grave of the dog Rin Tin Tin (1918–1932), who is world-famous through many cinema and television films .
In the city there are u. a. Companies owned by L'Oréal , Eiffage and LVMH . With Paris Asnieres is with the line 13 connected to the Métro, the final stop on the eastern edge of the city Asnières-Gennevilliers Les Courtilles has. To the west of the city, one is the station of the SNCF at from the Gare Saint-Lazare coming in Paris route, which among others, the lines J and L of the Transilien used -Netzes and various regional trains. The routes are led by the Asnières railway bridge over the Seine , one of the widest railway bridges in the world. Road traffic crosses the Seine with the Pont d'Asnières and the Pont de Clichy .
On May 16, 2020, one of the alleged chief perpetrators of the genocide in Rwanda , businessman Félicien Kabuga, was arrested at his apartment. He had lived there under a fictitious identity for years.
Asnières-sur-Seine has been a twin town of the Spandau district of Berlin since 1959 .
