Villeneuve-la-Garenne is a French commune and is nestled on the Seine arch in the extreme northeast of the French department of Hauts-de-Seine in the northern suburbs of Paris . The city with 23,771 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) belongs to the canton of Gennevilliers (until 2015: canton of Villeneuve-la-Garenne ). The inhabitants are called Villénogarennois .
Villeneuve-la-Garenne is the easternmost commune of the Hauts-de-Seine department. It is located about six kilometers from Paris Notre-Dame . The neighboring municipalities are Gennevilliers , L'Île-Saint-Denis and Épinay-sur-Seine . The area of Villeneuve-la-Garenne is divided into 40% living space, 40% economic space and 20% green space. It is noteworthy that the city, according to its own information, offers 19 m² of green space per inhabitant.

It was not until April 9, 1929 that Villeneuve-la-Garenne became an independent municipality after many years of efforts by its citizens by separating from Gennevilliers.
