Jean Gallon

Jean Gallon (born June 25, 1878 in Paris , † June 23, 1959 ibid) was a French composer and composition teacher.

Live and act

Like his brother Noël Gallon , he studied at the Paris Conservatory , where he directed concerts from 1906 to 1914. From 1919 to 1949 he taught harmony at the Conservatoire. His students included Maurice Duruflé , Olivier Messiaen , Henri Challan , Jeanne Demessieux , Jean Rivier and Pierre Sancan . From 1909 to 1914 he directed the choir of the Paris Opera .

He composed a ballet, a mass , six antiphons for strings and organ, and songs .
