Jean Rivier

Jean Rivier (born July 21, 1896 in Villemomble , † November 6, 1987 in La Penne-sur-Huveaune ) was a French composer .

After studying philosophy at the Conservatoire de Paris, Rivier studied with Jean Gallon , Georges Caussade and Maurice Emmanuel, where he taught composition from 1947 to 1966.

In addition to an opera , a ballet and radio works, Rivier composed over a hundred symphonic works, including eight symphonies , a number of instrumental concerts , chamber music works, a requiem , psalms , choral works and songs .
