Denis Leloup

Denis Leloup (* 1962 in Paris ) is a French jazz trombonist and composer .

Leloup studied at the Conservatory CNSMDP of Paris , where in 1980 he received a first prize. Then he played in various French big bands, a. a. conducted by Denis Badault , Laurent Cugny , Jean-Loup Longnon , Gérard Badini , Patrice Caratini (“Caratini Jazz Ensemble”), François Jeanneau (“Pandemonium”), Antoine Hervé and Martial Solal . From 1986 to 1988 he was a member of the Orchester National de Jazz under Jeanneau and Hervé . He then played in the quintet "Blocs-Notes" (for which he also composed), in the quartet of Jean-Louis Chautemps , in the sextet of Hervé Sellin , in the quintet by Zool Fleischer , in "Réunion" by Daniel Humair , "Agora" by Jean-Marc Jafet , in the "SOS Quintet" and in the sextet of Michel Petrucciani (tour 1997–1998, where he replaced Bob Brookmeyer ). He also played with Andy Emler , Riccardo Del Fra , Shelly Manne , Dizzy Gillespie , Woody Shaw , Kenny Wheeler , André Ceccarelli and Michel Legrand .

In 2002 he formed a duo with Zool Fleischer, with whom he recorded "Zooloop". He also accompanies Dee Dee Bridgewater .
