Bobby Rangell

Bobby Rangell (* approx. 1958 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American jazz musician (flute, saxophone).

Rangell, who comes from a musical family - jazz musician Nelson Rangell is his brother - grew up in Denver . He started out as a classical flautist. It was only at the age of 19 that he discovered jazz music and also began to learn the saxophone. At the age of 20 he toured North America with various soul and jazz bands. In 1980 he moved to France. In 1983 the quartet led by him and Alain Berquez won the Concours des Jeunes Interpretes d'Ile de France . In the same year he received the soloist prize at the Concours National de Jazz in La Défense . He has also performed with Randy Brecker and Dave Liebman . Then he formed his own band Blood Donation with bassist Vincent Charbonnier and drummer David Pouradier-Duteil; In the next few years he continued to perform with his trio, with Jean Jacques Milteau, with various bands from Pierrejean Gaucher , the Paris Salsa All Stars , Jean-Luc Ponthieux, Claudine François and Pedreira Rencontre.
