Nelson Rangell

Nelson Rangell (born March 26, 1960 in Castle Rock , Colorado ) is an American saxophonist and smooth jazz flutist .

Live and act

Rangell, who grew up in Denver and played music with his siblings (including Bobby Rangell ) as a child , received flute lessons at the Interlochen Arts Academy from the age of fifteen. As early as 1979 he was named “Best High School Soloist” by Down Beat, only to later receive the same award for students during his studies at the New England Conservatory with Robert Stallman . In 1984 he moved to New York City , where he worked as a studio musician, but also played with Gil Evans , Chuck Loeb , Jaco Pastorius , Herb Ellis , David Sanborn and Russ Freeman and his " Rippingtons ". In 1987 he presented his debut album "To Begin Again", which was followed by fourteen more albums by 2009. He was also involved in recordings for the GRP All Stars , Chuck Loeb, Tom Browne , Russ Ferrante , Jimmy Haslip , Patti Austin and John Tesh . He also plays the piccolo .
