Pierrejean Gaucher
Pierrejean Gaucher (born December 17, 1958 in Boulogne-Billancourt ) is a French jazz guitarist and composer who became known primarily in the fusion sector .
Live and act
Gaucher, who was initially interested in the fine arts, did not begin to play the guitar until he was 16. After graduating from university, he decided to pursue a career as a musician. He founded his own fusion band Abus Dangereux , whose debut ( Quatrieme mouvement ) appeared in 1979. In 1981 he spent at the Berklee School of Music , then returned to France and performed again with his group. The band shortened their name to Abus in 1986 , released a total of eight albums and gave more than 400 concerts in France and abroad. The band also performed with Randy Brecker , Robert Thomas Jr. , Bobby Rangell , Stéphane Belmondo , Olivier Hutman , Étienne M'Bappé and Benoît Moerlen.
In 1992 Gaucher founded his New Trio with drummer André Charlier and bassist Daniel Yvinec , with whom he released two critically acclaimed albums. In 1994 the trio developed into a quintet and has since performed at numerous French festivals under the name Zappe Zappa (first live CD in 1998). In 2000 he also founded his Phileas Band , with which he recorded and toured. He also founded the Duo 2G with his guitar colleague Christophe Godin in 2002 , with whom he also played programs that had their starting point in the Fables of Fontaine . He is also on albums of other musicians such as Didier Lockwood to hear Yves Henri Christophe Maroye or in part, together with the rhythm section of Uzeb . He continued to compose for the theater and in 1987 wrote the theme music for Philippe Adler's TV program Jazz 6 .
Gaucher is also successful as a guitar teacher; Among other things, he taught at Didier Lockwood's CMDL and the MAI in Nancy. He published an instructional video and authored several textbooks, one with Daniel Goyone .
